Once upon a time in the Domaine de Ceyrac… A magical reception venue
Hidden away at the foot of the magnificent Cévennes National Park, the property is set in 880 hectares of natural surroundings with ancient trees and farmland. As soon as you arrive you are captivated by the 800 metre long avenue lined with plane trees. In the distance, the old 18th century Cévennes hamlet gradually comes into view. Its charm is all thanks to the perfect renovation of the whole complex. It comprises a reception room, a conference room, 9 gites and 7 guest rooms. Plus of course areas set aside for well-being. Over thirty people once lived and worked in this ancient hamlet until the 19th century, farming, producing wine and raising cattle and sheep.
Today farming is no longer the economic mainstay of the property. The owners, Marie-Claude and Michel Ruas, have chosen to maintain some farming in order to preserve the surrounding biodiversity.
This exceptional setting, close to the sea and the mountains, is a strategic starting point for the south of France. You can get here from the airports of Nîmes Garons and Montpellier Méditerranée, just 48 km from Nîmes, and from here you can visit an unparalleled variety of Roman architecture. You can reach Montpellier, just 49 km from here, and its nearby Mediterranean beaches, and also Alès in the heart of the Cévennes, just 38 km away. Need a bit of fresh air? Follow the hiking trails from the property, or head for Mont Aigoual, just an hour’s drive from here. The Domaine de Ceyrac is the perfect place for all tastes and especially for all seasons!
Domaine de Ceyrac: the story of an enchanted rural village
The name Ceyrac is taken from the name of the Roman Serius who settled in the region over 2,000 years ago. Between the 18th and 19th centuries the hamlet was a hive of activity, with working farms and their buildings, wine production, a forge, dwellings, and even a priory and a chapel.
As time went by, the inhabitants left and the hamlet suffered the patina of time and the elements. Gradually abandoned by the people, the Domaine de Ceyrac became a habitat for a unique variety of fauna. We find rare species such as:
- kestrels,
- buzzards,
- the Bonelli eagle (a protected species)
- and rollers. This bird loves to nest in the ancient plane trees that line our magnificent driveway.
In 2008 a couple of entrepreneurs, Marie-Claude and Michel Ruas fell in love with the abandoned building. They decided to give a new lease of life to this natural setting. Four years later, the property became a unique reception venue, full of history and in a carefully preserved environment.

The Domaine de Ceyrac has been fully converted to form 9 gites and 7 guest rooms all elegantly decorated and equipped with fine quality materials. You are entering a haven of peace and comfort in a beautiful landscape.
The whole complex can sleep up to 62 people. The site is a beautiful as it is convenient for holidaying with friends or family, or for corporate events far from the madding crowd. We also have a team of professionals on hand to assist you. They can guide you in: the choice of sporting activities, wine tasting, gastronomic restaurants in the area or caterers to bring to the property.

Because we love nature, we aim to ensure that all the 880 hectares are maintained to ecological standards. This entails restructuring, protecting and managing the surrounding biodiversity. We therefore continue to cultivate hay and alfalfa using responsible methods and produce wine sustainably by improving the terroir. Our methods are all eco-friendly: we breed partridges, and provide grazing for sheep and naturally filled ponds to prevent the spread of fires.
The Domaine de Ceyrac is open in all seasons for a magical break from city life. Spring and summer are for outdoor activities, and exploring the local architecture and produce. Autumn is perfect for gentle strolls along golden paths, mushroom picking and bike rides. Come winter, cosy evenings by the fireside are the perfect ending to a day on the snow-covered mountains.
